What is TA-35?
The TA-35 index holds the 35 largest companies by market cap on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. It is the exchange’s flagship index: the one quoted when the news says "the Tel Aviv market rose today". It is rebalanced twice a year, and a single stock’s weight is capped by the index rules to limit concentration.
How it affects you
The practical difference between TA-35 and TA-125 is diversification. TA-35 concentrates in 35 names, so one large company can move it meaningfully. TA-125 also includes mid-caps, making it broader and a better proxy for the Israeli economy. If you are choosing an Israeli index fund, this is the first decision you face.
How to read this number
Daily moves up to about 1.5% are routine. Note the index is heavily influenced by banking and insurance, when domestic rates move, TA-35 reacts more strongly than global averages. A single day’s number says almost nothing; the multi-year direction is what matters.

TA-35 holds the 35 largest companies; TA-125 holds 125, including mid-caps. TA-125 is more diversified and therefore less sensitive to any single company. The two usually move together, because the 35 largest names also dominate TA-125 by weight.
